The 2nd Annual Chenega Invitational Golf
Tournament raises over $17,000 to support
Aid for Wounded Soldiers
Bringing your employees together to support a worthy cause can be
a win-win situation for everybody. An inspiring example was Chenega Federal Systems’ (CFS) Second Annual Chenega Invitational Golf Tournament held on June 26, 2008 to benefit Azalea Charities’ Aid for Wounded Soldiers project.
Over 80 participants from across the country joined CFS during the tournament to raise support for this incredible cause. Most of the
company's employees lent their talents to either play in the tournament
or run the event.
The spirit of this event was personified by a special golfer, SSG Justin Lynn of Tucson, Arizona. Justin, an amputee who was injured in Iraq in 2007, shared a spell-binding story with the crowd. He attributed much of his emotional rehabilitation to organizations such as AWS, who extend their hearts to our brave service men and women. SSG Lynn is living proof of how the Aid for Wounded Soldiers project benefits our wounded heroes every day.
Over $17,000 raised for Aid for Wounded Soldiers
The tournament was a great success. Over $17,000 was given to Brooke Army Medical Center at Ft. Sam Houston, Texas to support soldiers treated in the amputee and burn units. Funds were donated in honor of SSG Justin Lynn, who completed his rehabilitation there. It is critical for these wounded soldiers to be with their loved ones during this difficult time, and the funds provided ensure that their families are there to support a quick recovery.
The tournament is a popular event for the people at Chenega Federal Systems. According to Carolyn Maloney, Marketing Manager for Chenega Federal Systems, “We were looking for a charitable cause to adopt as a company. Since a lot of our employees are ex-military and we work closely with the DoD, Aid for Wounded Soldiers was a logical choice.” CFS is a fully cleared, professional services provider focusing in the Defense, Intelligence and Advanced Technology sectors of the federal government.
Chenega Federal Systems is already planning for next year’s tournament. The 3rd Annual Chenega Invitational will be held in June 2009. For more information contact Carolyn Maloney at 703-493-9880.
