Azalea Charities lends a hand to Durham Medical Center with a $10,000 check 
On January 28, 2008, the Durham VA Medical Center received a donation in the amount of $10,000 from Azalea Charities, Inc.  In making this substantial donation, the charitable organization, headquartered in Dumfries, Virginia, noted:  “We recognize the nature of the injuries and the costs incurred by family members in supporting their wounded soldiers and that is what inspired us to initiate a program of contributions to VA Medical Centers through their Voluntary Service Divisions.”  The donation is earmarked to specifically support care for veterans of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. read more …

Azalea Charities teams with Artist Dean J. Baer to help with this year’s fundraising goals

In July 2007, Azalea Charities asked nationally known artist Dean J. Baer to consider supporting Azalea Charities fundraising activities, in particular our Aid for Wounded Soldiers project. Mr. Baer, an Air Force veteran, responded to our request by creating a painting called Proud Warriors.
Open edition prints and note cards of the Proud Warriors image are now available through the Azalea Charities online Store.  Limited edition prints of Proud Warriors are available at the Framing Outlet, Montclair, Virginia.  The original painting is currently on display at the Framing Outlet. A Memorial to Captain Drew Jensen, United States Army

On Friday last America lost one of its most precious sons, one of its most gallant warriors. On that day West Point graduate Captain Drew Jensen of Damascus, Oregon died of complications from a gunshot wound to the neck suffered on 7 May 07 in Baqubah, Iraq. For four long and arduous months Captain Jensen and his loving family struggled valiantly against long odds. The struggle ended at 3:45 pm on 7 September 07.  read more …
